Clear the Clutter, Reveal the Home!
We’ve all heard that less is more, and it’s so true! We see that in every staged home — there is so much appeal to a room that is uncluttered. But we live in our homes so “stuff” tends to happen.
At least in my house that is true — I crave to have a more simplified space, so I thought I would see if regular people like you and me could implement a few tricks of the stagers.
Stagers will tell you they “edit” rather than declutter. Start with the horizontal spaces: the kitchen counters, the dresser, the desktop, the coffee table — all landing zones for our everyday stuff. Try removing everything — then add back just what you really use or love.
Bookshelves are for books, right? Of course, but a packed bookcase is not as pretty as one with some photos and other favorite objects — and some empty space.
Keep things just because you love them, that’s ok! Decluttering can become so serious that people start feeling guilty about having stuff. That’s not the goal. A home should have personality. Keep the things that make you happy, but just give them enough space to be appreciated.
That’s really what a good stager does. They don’t make a home empty. They make choices about what deserves to be seen.
